Middle Schoolers Support Local Charities

It’s been a treat to see the Living Values in action throughout the halls of Mizzentop! Our students have been actively involved in supporting two very important charitable causes outside our school: The Putnam Humane Society and The Pawling Resource Center.

Mrs. Justo’s advisory group has completed a month-long effort to collect materials desperately needed by the Putnam Humane Society as they care for homeless animals in our area. Blankets and towels, cleaning supplies, food and pet toys were brought in by students of all grades to contribute to the project. Mrs. Justo’s advisory group dedicated their time to sorting and organizing many donations and then delivered the goods to the Humane Society in person. Many thanks those leading our school in this act of service to the community.

Meanwhile, the 8th grade took charge of our annual food drive in support of the Pawling Resource Center. As the school elders, these students were responsible for assigning each classroom a food item to collect, monitoring the donations and then delivering them to the Resource Center for distribution to area families in need. In total, the Mizzentop community donated many critical supplies to the Resource Center. Thank you, 8th grade!

Humility is Living Value for this month. Clearly our students understand that giving their time, energy and resources to a cause greater than themselves is the epitome of humility.

If you know of a Mizzentop student who is actively working towards a charitable goal, please be sure to let us know!
